Body Butter Recipe
Ingredients
These ingredients are available instore. Purchased by weight, you can get just enough for the recipe for a low cost.
- 3/4 cup shea butter
- 1/4 cup jojoba oil (infused if desired – see below)
- essential oil (optional)
Method
Place butter in heat-proof jug and sit in hot water to soften.
Add jojoba oil and whip using an electric whisk, food processor
or thermo (lucky you!).
You can also use a hand-held whisk if you put in extra time and effort. Whip on low-med for approx. 5 minutes, or until you have created fluffy white clouds.
If you are using essential oils, add them just before the mix is finished.
Spoon it into a clean dry jar.
Enjoy!
NOTES //
- You can infuse your jojoba oil with calendula and chamomile to soak your skin with liquid gold goodness!
- In winter, adjust to 60% butter, 40% oil so it doesn’t set as hard.
- This is a great base recipe. You can add lavender oil and use it as a bug-bite cream. Add calendula and chamomile a for dry chapped lips, or for sensitive baby bums.
- Keep in a cool, dark place – a bathroom cupboard is perfect. As this recipe is anhydrous (meaning no water) it should keep for up to 3 months... if it lasts that long!
